Note: Imported Spirit Batch Types will be built very similarly to Domestic Batch Types and have only a few small nuances to consider upon Setup. Users who need a refresher on building Dx5 Batch Types should review our Setup article and video resources below before starting this process:
Setup: Create New Batch Type (Video)
Setup: Create a Batch Type (Read Time: 5 mins)
Dx5 Users should have Multiple Monthly Storage Report covers activated and Dx5 enabled for Imported Spirit tracking before building an Imported Spirit Batch Type. If your Dx5 system is not yet enabled for Imported Spirit tracking, review this resource before creating your Batch Type: Operations: Enabling Dx5 for Imported Spirit Reporting on the Federal Storage Report (US Systems Only - Read Time: 5 mins).
To create a new Imported Spirit Batch Type:
- Start by navigating to Operations > Setup and select the Setup Actions button in the upper right corner. Once the Setup Actions menu is expanded, click "+Add Batch Type".
- Complete the form for this new liquid just as you would build any other Batch Type, paying attention to the available Imported Spirit Tracking attributes as you go. Those include:
- Produced by Another DSP: if you are receiving Imported Spirit from your Supplier inside of a wooden Barrel (not in a Tote/Vessel), or if you have plans to Barrel the spirit you've Imported on-site, select this option. Users will be asked to associate a Dx5 "Supplier" and list a "DSP Number" to display on Barrel Head Cards of this spirit.
- Your Imported Spirit Supplier should already be established as a Contact in Dx5; if a Permit Number is declared on the Supplier level, it will pre-fill into the "DSP Number" field once the Supplier is selected. For a resource on adding Suppliers to Dx5, click here: Contacts: Add New Supplier (Video).

- Spirit Type: At this time, the Dx5 Spirit Type list has several options for identifying your Imported liquids available in the Spirit Type list! If your Imported liquid falls under a broader category such as "Rum", make the most applicable identification in the Spirit Type list.
- Dx5 Spirit Types align most closely with those found in the BAM (Beverage Alcohol Manual) and do not effect Dx5 Federal Reporting. Users with questions about how a liquid should report federally or be otherwise identified should consult their Supplier or TTB Agent for guidance.

- Storage: Once the additional Monthly Storage Reports are switched on, users building new Batch Types should use the "Report As" field to determine whether their liquid should Report federally as Domestic Spirit and All Wines, Imported Spirits, Puerto Rican Spirits or Virgin Island Spirits. This ensures spirit PGs received/held land on the appropriate Federal Storage Report.
- Processing: Select the appropriate Reporting Category from the list to capture your PGs on the correct column/row of Processing Part IV. Reporting Categories are available for Imported Whiskey(s), Rum ("Other" Imported), Spirits from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and Tequila.

- Click Save Batch Type once you're ready to save your new Imported Spirit Batch Type.
