Users with Contract-Distilling or Co-Packing agreements may need to either Withdraw or Transfer Bulk Spirit In-Bond as part of their relationships. Spirit sent out for these types of purposes will often be removed from the Bulk Processing stage in Dx5, but can also be removed from Bulk Storage.
Withdrawn Spirit can be removed for a variety of reasons, some of which are taxable - if you need to remove Spirit from your DSP In-Bond, make sure to choose the "Transfer Out In-Bond" Withdrawal Type and follow the instructions regarding that Type below.
To Withdraw Bulk Spirit or Transfer Bulk Spirit In-Bond from your DISTILL x 5 system:
- Navigate to the Batch Details page for the spirit you wish to withdraw.
- Click Batch Actions > Withdraw Spirit
- Enter the Withdrawal Date/Time.
- Choose the appropriate Transfer Type. Users have the option to Transfer the entire batch contents, or partial volumes.
- Users have two Withdrawal Types to choose from; Withdraw Spirit, or Transfer Out In-Bond.
- If Withdraw Spirit is selected, the Withdrawal Reasons available in the displayed drop-down menu will display differently depending on the DSP account you're withdrawing spirit from. These Withdrawal Reasons directly correlate to reporting lines on the Monthly Federal Storage and Processing Reports of Operations:

- Available Withdrawal Reasons will include:
- Use of the United States
- Hospital, scientific educational use
- Export
- Transfer to foreign-trade zone
- Transfer to CMBW
- Use as supplies on vessels and aircraft
- Transfer to bonded winery
- Transfer to CBW
- Research, Development, or Testing
- Destroyed
- Storage LN. 21: Write-In Line, sometimes used for CARES Act Reporting. Consult with your TTB agent before using this Withdraw line.
- Available Withdrawal Reasons will include:
- Bulk Processing
- Available Withdrawal Reasons will include:
- Used for Denaturing
- Withdrawn Tax Determined
- Withdrawn Free of Tax
- Without Payment of Tax for Addition to Wine
- For Exportation & Transfer to CBW (Customs Bonded Winery)
- Research, development, and testing
- Destroyed

- If Withdraw Spirit is selected, the Withdrawal Reasons available in the displayed drop-down menu will display differently depending on the DSP account you're withdrawing spirit from. - If Transfer Out In-Bond is selected, the form's withdraw options will display the following:
- In-Bond Recipient: Choose the recipient of your Bonded Spirit from the list of available options. If an In-Bond Recipient is not displaying in the list, make sure to add them to Dx5 via the steps in this video resource: Contacts: Add In-Bond Recipient (Video).
- BOL Document Upload: Optional field - users with a PDF copy of their TIB/BOL paperwork saved on their device have the option to upload a copy of that documentation to their Dx5 Batch History records.
- Sale Price: The total Sale Price/Value of the Bulk Spirit being transferred out In-Bond should be entered here. If N/A, enter "$0".
- Click Withdraw Spirit when the form is complete.
