Note: Users may already be familiar with Dx5's traditional Recipe-building process; building Recipes for RTDs in Dx5 will follow the same lines. A comprehensive video on building Dx5 Recipes, including information on the difference between a Recipe and a Formula, can be viewed here: Setup: Build Recipe/Formula (Video).
Users crafting RTDs without TTB-approved Formulas can still keep track of their RTD Recipes in Dx5 to assist with Material applications/tracking.
To set up a new Dx5 Recipe:
- Navigate to Operations > Setup
- Click the Setup Actions button in the upper right corner; choose "New Recipe/Formula"
- Enter a Name and Abbreviation to reference the new Dx5 Recipe.
- Abbreviations = Maximum of 6 Characters.
- Do not check the "Designate as Formula" option - this is for TTB-approved Formulas. More information on building Formulas in Dx5 can be found here: Setup: Create New RTD Formula (Read Time: 4 mins).
- Baseline Batch Volume refers to the starting Volume of spirit involved in this Recipe. Example: if a Recipe is built based on a starting Volume of 500 gallons, enter that as the Baseline Batch Volume.
- If Scale Recipe/Formula is selected, this Recipe's materials will be scaled up or down automatically based on differences in the Batch Volume users are running the Recipe against.
- Example: a Recipe's Baseline Batch Volume of 500 Gallons is established which requires 100lbs of Material is being ran against a 250 Gallon batch - Dx5 scales the Recipe's Material application down to 50lbs automatically.
- Example: a Recipe's Baseline Batch Volume of 500 Gallons is established which requires 100lbs of Material is being ran against a 250 Gallon batch - Dx5 scales the Recipe's Material application down to 50lbs automatically.
- If Scale Recipe/Formula is selected, this Recipe's materials will be scaled up or down automatically based on differences in the Batch Volume users are running the Recipe against.
- Add Recipe/Formula Materials as appropriate and relevant to the Baseline Batch Volume.
- The below Recipe is set up with the Materials/Material Amounts applied to a 500 Gallon Baseline Batch Volume:
- Use "+Add Another Material" to add all required Materials to the Recipe.
- If a Material is not available in the drop-down menu, navigate to Inventory > Overview and build the necessary Item using the steps in this resource: Inventory: Add New Raw Material (Read Time: 4 mins).
- The below Recipe is set up with the Materials/Material Amounts applied to a 500 Gallon Baseline Batch Volume:
- Apply Batch Type Modifier can be selected to allow the Dx5 Recipe to automatically update the Batch Type of the Batch that users are applying their Recipe to.
- Example: My Recipe calls for Material applications to Bulk Agave Spirit, which will change my spirit's identity to align with my canned Margarita RTD. By establishing a Starting and End Batch Type here, Dx5 will automatically update my Batch's Batch Type from "Bulk Agave Spirit" to "CC-Margarita" upon application of my Recipe:
- Example: My Recipe calls for Material applications to Bulk Agave Spirit, which will change my spirit's identity to align with my canned Margarita RTD. By establishing a Starting and End Batch Type here, Dx5 will automatically update my Batch's Batch Type from "Bulk Agave Spirit" to "CC-Margarita" upon application of my Recipe:
- Enter an optional Description, or note/comment, for the new Recipe if desired.
- Click the orange Save Changes button to save the new Recipe.
