When batch costing is enabled in DISTILL x 5, users will see that their Finished Products initially have an average unit cost of "Not Available" and total inventory value of $0.00. This is intentional and cannot be edited, as determined by accounting best practices.
Users will see these fields update automatically after the next bottling run that occurs for that finished product. When looking at the finished product's inventory transaction, the usual bottling addition will be accompanied by a Revaluation transaction that takes the average unit cost and multiplies it by total inventory on hand.
Average Unit Cost for a Finished Product is calculated as such:
(Batch Cost of Spirit Bottled + Total Cost of Supplies Used) / Total Units Bottled
To ensure this cost is accurate, it is imperative that users first setup Batch Costing and the Average Unit Cost for any attached supplies.
