Operations: QR Code Barrel Scanner / Picker (Read Time: 5 mins)

If you are using Barrel Head Card functionality in DISTILL x 5, you can use your smartphone or tablet to scan barrel QR Codes when it comes time to harvest or move the barrel(s). All DISTILL x 5 subscribers can use the QR Code picker for harvesting barrels, but moving barrels selected via QR Code requires the paid "Barrel Mover" add-on; see this article for more information: Advanced Barrel Management: Barrel Mover

To use the QR Code Scanning functionality for harvesting barrels, navigate to Operations > Overview and select Barrel Actions > Harvest Barrels:

Enter the Destination Batch Type and Destination Vessel, then select the Barrel Batch Type(s) and Barrel Profile(s) that you're harvesting, then select the "QR Barrel Scan" button:

A QR Code will appear:

You can use the QR Code scanner two ways:

• If you are going to scan barrels using the same device that you're using to access DISTILL x 5, simply click on the QR Code Image to be directed to the "barrel scanner".
  • This is the option to choose when you are logged into DISTILL x 5 on your smartphone or tablet and want to use the same device to scan barrels.
• If you are going to scan barrels using a different device, scan the QR Code Image with that device to be directed to the "barrel scanner".
  • This is the option to choose when you are logged into DISTILL x 5 on a PC or a device that doesn't have a camera, and you need to leverage a 2nd device to do the scanning.
• Either way, you have 30 minutes to perform all of your scanning once you've opened the barrel scanner. A countdown clock will appear on the DISTILL x 5 Barrel Harvest page:

Once you have opened the barrel scanning tool, tap the teal camera icon at the top and grant permission to use your camera (if needed):

Then, you just point your camera at the QR Code and the tool will display the scanned Barrel Number in the box below the camera. You can point the camera at many barrels in sequence to select them, and they will appear in the "Barrels Selected" box:

Tap "Complete Scanning" and your DISTILL x 5 Barrel Harvest page will update with the selected barrels:

You may proceed to harvesting!
