Beginning July 6, 2023, Dx5 users will see that we've replaced the New Mash/Cook button on Operations > Overview and stage-specific pages with Start New Batch. This is due in part to an ongoing effort to make Dx5 more applicable to all types of distilled spirits producers. Here's what you need to know:
What:
Beginning July 6, 2023, Dx5 users will see a new button called Start New Batch instead of what used to be New Mash/Cook. This change will be reflected on the following pages in Dx5:
- Operations > Overview
- Operations > Production
- Operations > Storage
- Operations > Processing
- Operations > Batch History
Why:
Over the years we've heard from our users that Dx5 is too whiskey-specific. Not everyone mashes or cooks before starting a fermentation! While Dx5 has always and will continue to serve all types of distilled spirits producers, we wanted to make a slightly better experience for all new users of Dx5. It's a small change, but we feel it's impactful.
What changes:
Right now, just the button. Literally. Users will see no change to system behavior. The Mash/Cook stage will still exist and function as it always has.
In coming months, we hope to add more flexibility for users that will allow them to skip the Mash/Cook stage altogether and begin batches directly in the fermentation stage. We're looking at you rum-makers!
As always, we appreciate your ongoing support and partnership. If you have questions or comments, please feel free to drop us a note with our support team by emailing support@fx5solutions.com. Cheers!
